"Friends of Transit" is the front for a non-profit corporation that has been stumping for the Rapid bus tax hike. They are behind the "RapidYes" website and the flyers you have been getting in the mail. Their real name is Disability Network/Lakeshore. All of its officers and all but one its directors have addresses outside of the six cities that will have property taxes increased by the bus millage. The corporation's address is in Holland.
It strikes me a bit odd that the Friends of Transit are pushing a new tax for a bus system that doesn't serve the lakeshore communities. So why are they sticking their nose into our business? If they insist on doing so, at least they could be honest about who they are -- namely, non-taxpayers who demand that others get stiffed with a tax hike.

I hope all the college age renters that voted for this waste of money enjoy the increase in their rent from their now burdened landlords.
My husband and I are seriously looking to move out of the City this year when we purchase our new house. Not only due to the high income tax rate that they raped us for last year, but now this gigantic waste.

I understand the sentiment, Amie. We'll have more to say about this in the next couple of days.
