New information on the GRPS’s sale of Huff School. Mosaica, the charter school outfit from Atlanta and the high bidder at $1.38 million, extended the deadline for accepting its offer until Thursday, November 17th. So Superintendent Bleke caused an unnecessary panic by calling an emergency school board meeting on Wednesday to respond to Mosaica by its old deadline. It appears that Mosaica had already made clear that its deadline was extended by that time. Furthermore, it looks like Bleke didn’t tell the board that Mosaica gave the GRPS the opportunity to sponsor the charter school it wants to run out of Huff School. Making Mosaica look as bad as possible, because its charter school would compete with the city school system, is consistent with Bleke’s backing of the $1,000,000 from the Red Stone Group, which would demolish Huff School and build residential housing there. The bottom line, folks, is that Bleke, by hook or by crook, will protect the GRPS establishment at the expense of the best interest of the students and taxpayers – and it doesn’t look like the school board is prepared to do much about Bleke’s misfeasance.
