Reviewing this weekend's editions of the Grand Rapids Press, I am relieved to learn what a wonderful world it is. On Friday the Press devoted half of the front page to Game 7 of the Pistons-Spurs NBA championship bout. Most of that was a picture of Ben Wallace look pretty grumpy. Oh sure, the Pistons blowing the championship in the last half of the last game of the season isn't happy news -- but it's still fun news, kids!
Worry not. On Saturday the Press delivered the full measure of happy fun news. Smack dab in the middle of the front page was a big color photograph of a little girl having a heckuva good time at one of the City's public pools on a hot summer day. Now that was both happy AND fun, and the Press -- God bless 'em -- didn't even weigh us down with an actual story we had to read about this wonderful newsbreaking event in River City.
But it wasn't until Sunday that I learned just how much the Grand Rapids Press cares about me. Taking up most of the front page was a big story warning me that if I don't shop around I might be paying too much for concert tickers on the internet. You see how the Press wants to make sure I'm happy when I'm out having fun?
