Time to give praise when praise is due. It looks like General George and the Grand Rapids City Commission came up with a clever way to save the taxpayers money: Speed craters!
This fiscal innovation started appearing across the city during the past month. One place to encounter these marvels is to take a drive along Monroe Avenue north of Leonard. What suspiciously look like bottomless potholes are in fact traffic control devices to keep drivers within the speed limit.
Speed craters are cheaper than speed bumps, require no maintenance, and certainly make us slow down. Not only do we save, we are also safe now! So let the City know how much you like this great idea and tell them where your favorite speed crater is located.
